What is Celadon?
Celadon is French word for a kind of high-fired stoneware which the surface of glaze is lustrous and jadelike. Celadon glaze were highly prized. The earliest, known as PI-S?, or "SECRET COLOR" Celadon wares were admired for their resemblance to jade, and at their best, Celadon glazes may have the look and feel of precious stone. The glazes are almost indescribable hue, ranging from a sea-green through olive-green, blue-green, yellow-green to grey-green. The Celadon glazes covered with a natural feldspathic, wood-ash glaze, in which iron is present, and fired in a reduction atmosphere to a temperature of about 1280 centigrade.

Sansai Celadon is a family business, founded in 1988 by Mr. Boonsant Photikanond, the first specialist in Celadon in Chiangmai for more than 30 years experiences. All of our products are hand-made in accordance with the ancient method. This unique, finest hi-fired stoneware contains neither synthetic materials nor commercial dyes at all. It is fired at 1280 centigrade for 12 hours.
This intricacies of the production process and the expertise built up by the family over many years enable Sansai Celadon to produce high quality Celadonware and the finest dinnerware in the world market.
An SGS Laboratory (Thailand) test report shows that our Celadon dinnerware contains leachable lead and cadmium contents way below the standards set by the California Safe Tableware Law guidelines issued on March 26, 1993 and the American Food and Drug Administration requirement.
