Logic Puzzle Pages

Hello, welcome to my Logic Puzzle Pages. Here you will find links to logic puzzles, and pages about logic puzzles on the net. You will also find a link to my free downloadable Logic Puzzle Solver. This should run on virtually all IBM compatible machines, and I have tested it under Windows 98, NT 3.5, XP Home and XP Pro, so there's not a lot of machines it won't run on! I haven't yet tested it on Vista, so would be grateful for feedback from Vista users. I have also added a link to my new Sudoku Assistant program.

Firstly a word about Logic Puzzles (or Problems - the terms are interchangeable, but I shall use the term Puzzle on these pages). What I mean are puzzles such as: Mr Brown, Mr Jones and Mr Smith have three different cars: one is a Toyota, one is a Ford and one is a Renault. The colours of the cars are black, yellow and red. You are then given various clues and have to deduce who has what car and what colour it is.

1.    Mr Brown has a Toyota, but it is not black.

2.    The Ford is not red.

3.    Mr Smith does not own a Renault or a black car.

These clues should lead you to the conclusion that Mr Brown has a red Toyota, Mr Jones has a black Renault and Mr Smith has a yellow Ford. However the puzzles can get much trickier than this!

I have been solving and compiling Logic Puzzles for several years and for magazines I especially recommend Logical Challenge (published by Total Puzzles in the UK), as they have a much bigger variety of Puzzles than any other magazine. They have also published a number of my own puzzles.

Logic Puzzles can be a bit daunting at first, but once you get the hang of them they can be challenging and rewarding. You may also find that my program (link below), will help you solve the Puzzles you come across, and you may even be inspired to compile your own Puzzles and sell them!

Sudoku Assistant

I have recently developed a program to help with the solving of sudoku puzzles (that have become extremely popular all over the world). It is not a sudoku solver as that would make the exercise somewhat pointless, but an assistant helping you to solve them. What the program does is just the basic bookkeeping, allowing the solver to make the logical deductions. You can download the assistant from the download page, and full instructions are included.

Happy puzzling.
